Selecta who????

First of all my real name is not AJ, thats a nickname, but people prefer to call me that instead of my real name, which i hate.
I refuse to tell people my real name but i do tell them "J" in "AJ" stands for junior. Anyway onto more important things, i was born and raised in Jamaica and lived there for 14 years of life. During that period i went to schools like Meadowbrook Prep school, St. Georges College high school (Big up all College man, STGC!!!!). It was in my 3rd form year(grade 9), my family decided to migrate to the United States/Miami Florida. I then resumed my high school career by attending Miami Southridge Senior High (Home of the Spartans), and then unto Florida International University (FIU). It is at FIU i am currently studying/Majoring in Architecture. Not only am i studying architecture but i am also a radio station DJ/assistant Engineer. Actually the radio station i am working with is a college radio station infamously known as Radiate 88/WRGP 88.1FM, but not your average college radio station i must say. I play Reggea and hip hop music and ocassionally its a mix of both.

How i got interested in being a DJ you ask? Well when i was in Jamaica as a child my father had a set(two turntables, mixer, etc...) and a large collection of records, which my sisters and i used as frisbees (hey we were young and didn't know). As i got older i was educated on how to use a turntable and play music. What really got me interested in being a DJ, was from a tape i had bought in halfway tree road one time. I mean growing up in Jamaica at that time everyone would admit that the best sound system off all times was Stone Love International. But it was that tape man, I can never forget it, I had just started high school and had that tape. You must be asking what tape? well let me tell you the first time i heard these guys play, no doubt i fell in love with their remixes. If your a Jamaican you must know who i talking bout. Yes its the one and only Renaissance Disco, the remix/uptown sound. If i can recall the tape was called Delano's Revenge, and this was very first one when i decided to buy this tape. Man dem did tuff and dem still is. I used to listen to that tape until it became a sing along. Man up until this day they are my favourate sound system. I then proceeded to buy up my records at the time and mimic this sound system. I then met my good friend Elijah and some other friends form Georges who i then decided to form a sound/crew name, "Twilight Disco". After forming the sound we had a problem, one of the turntables were broken and so we only had one turntable(as seen above). Well that didn't stop us as we still bought our records and made tapes (alot of stop/pause/record).

Anyway as you will notice the sound died out as we went into 3rd form and i migrated.

While going to high school in Miami i started going out with this girl who told me her cousin was in a sound called "PRESTIGE sound system". When she told me this i waisted no time and went over to her cousins house and demonstrated my skills and was quickly recruited but as the hip hop mixer though since i knew more about hip hop than anyone else. Right now i don't know if i am still apart of Prestige sound system , as i only got a chance to play out with them once and the other times it was just me alone representing the sound or myself. I soon got fed up playing in a garage & shed where no one would hear us when i wanted to demonstrated my skills. So i decided to form my own sound where i am presently looking for a name. But i do at times go and practice on prestige sound system and chill. When i graduated high school , i then went to FIU where i joined the radio station, which caught my attention the very first day(i am talking orientation day). And the rest is History.
